Does Miami Have a Michelin Star?

Miami is an amazing city full of life and culture. It has a thriving culinary scene with restaurants from all over the world, and it is home to some of the best chefs in the world.

Miami is known for its sunny beaches, vibrant nightlife, and delicious food, so it’s no surprise that it has become a foodie destination. But does Miami have a Michelin star?

Michelin stars are one of the highest honors a restaurant can receive and are seen as a sign of excellence in cuisine. Restaurants that receive a Michelin star have met strict criteria set by the Michelin Guide, which include quality of ingredients, preparation techniques, taste, presentation, innovation, and value for money.

The answer to whether or not Miami has a Michelin star is both yes and no. There are currently no restaurants in Miami with one or more Michelin stars but there are restaurants in nearby South Florida cities that have earned this prestigious award. In 2020, three restaurants in Florida received one or more stars from the Michelin Guide: Le Sirenuse Miami Beach (one star), Palme d’Or at The Biltmore Hotel (two stars), and Habitas at The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne (one star).

In addition to these three restaurants outside of Miami proper, there are also two other restaurants in South Florida that were awarded Michelin stars but have since closed their doors: Blue Cut at The Palms Hotel & Spa (one star) and Café Boulud at The Brazilian Court Hotel (one star). While these two restaurants are no longer open for business, they still remain part of the list of Michelin-starred establishments in Florida.

Miami’s culinary scene continues to grow each year and with it come more opportunities for chefs to receive recognition from the prestigious Michelin Guide. With its diverse range of flavors from around the world and creative takes on traditional dishes, it wouldn’t be surprising if we see some more Michelin-starred establishments appear in Miami soon.

To sum up, while there are currently no restaurants in Miami with one or more Michelin stars, there are several nearby South Florida cities that do have them. As Miami’s culinary scene continues to expand and evolve each year, there is certainly room for growth when it comes to accolades from the esteemed Michelin Guide – so watch this space!
