How Many Michelin Star Restaurants Are in NY?

New York City is known as the culinary capital of the world and it is no surprise that there are many Michelin Star restaurants in the city. The Michelin Guide has been rating restaurants since 1900 and has become a benchmark for excellence in fine dining.

The guide awards one to three stars, with three stars being the highest award. As of 2021, there are a total of 85 Michelin Star restaurants in New York City.

The majority of Michelin Star restaurants in New York City are located in Manhattan, with 42 establishments receiving at least one star from the guide. Brooklyn comes in second with 18 starred restaurants, followed by Queens with 8 starred places. Westchester also has a respectable number of Michelin Starred spots with 8, while Long Island falls behind with only 3.

New York City is home to some of the most renowned Michelin Star restaurants in the world. Eleven Madison Park is currently the only restaurant in NYC to receive three stars from the guide, while Daniel and Le Bernardin both have two stars.

Other highly acclaimed establishments include Per Se, Marea and Jean-Georges, all of which have one star.
