How Many Michelin Star Restaurants Are in Taiwan?

Taiwan has become a mecca for Michelin-starred dining in recent years, with the number of restaurants with this prestigious accolade increasing significantly in the past decade. As of 2021, there are a total of 12 restaurants in Taiwan that have been awarded one or more stars by the world-renowned Michelin Guide.

The first restaurant to receive a Michelin star was Le Palais in Taipei, which was awarded one star in 2007. Since then, the number of starred restaurants has steadily increased, with the most recent addition being La Cime in Taichung, which received two stars in 2020. The list of starred restaurants includes many well-known establishments such as Din Tai Fung and L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Taipei; RAW and MUME in Taipei; and La Cime and Le Mouton Noir in Taichung.

In addition to these twelve restaurants, there are also several other establishments that have been recommended by the Michelin Guide. These include eateries such as Sushi Masaaki and Tsuji Japanese Restaurant in Taipei; Ya Ge and Xiao Bao Biscuit in Taichung; and Yilan’s Dingyuan Seafood Restaurant.
