How Many Michelin Star Restaurants Are There in Canada?

Michelin stars are the highest honor given to restaurants for the quality of their food and services. They are highly sought after by restaurant owners around the world, and Canada is no exception. There are currently 12 Michelin star restaurants in Canada, spread across five provinces: Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Nova Scotia. The highest concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants is in Ontario with seven establishments; Quebec follows with three; Alberta has one; British Columbia has one; and Nova Scotia has none.

In Quebec, the province’s first Michelin-starred restaurant was opened in 2007 in Montreal: Toqué! Since then two other establishments have been awarded a single star: L’Express and Le Club Chasse et Peche.

In Ontario, seven restaurants have achieved the coveted Michelin star rating. These include Alo, George Restaurant, Jacobs & Co Steakhouse, Luma Restaurant at TIFF Bell Lightbox, Scaramouche Restaurant Pasta Bar & Grill, Splendido Restaurant & Bar and The McEwan Group.

In Alberta, one restaurant has earned the distinction of a single Michelin star: Rge Rd Restaurant in Edmonton.

In British Columbia, Hawksworth Restaurant in Vancouver is the only establishment to be bestowed with a single star rating from the Michelin Guide.

In Nova Scotia, there are currently no restaurants that have earned a Michelin star rating from the guidebook.
