How Many Three Michelin Star Restaurants Are There in NYC?

The prestigious Michelin Guide has awarded stars to the top culinary destinations around the world since 1926. Three stars indicate the highest honor, a distinction reserved for only a few of the best restaurants in any given city. In New York City, there are currently seven three-star restaurants, each offering its own unique dining experience.

Masa is one of the three Michelin star restaurants in NYC. Located in the Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle, Masa offers a luxurious and exclusive sushi-only experience.

The restaurant is helmed by celebrity chef Masayoshi Takayama and serves up traditional Japanese cuisine made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. The menu changes daily and consists of an omakase-style tasting menu with an array of handmade nigiri sushi dishes.

Le Bernardin is one of five Michelin star restaurants in NYC that has been awarded three stars from the guide. Helmed by renowned chef Eric Ripert, Le Bernardin features French seafood cuisine crafted from sustainably sourced ingredients.

The restaurant offers two tasting menus: a four-course option and an eight-course chef’s tasting menu. Diners can expect to find dishes such as caviar with potato mousseline, lobster risotto and seared scallops.

Eleven Madison Park is another three Michelin star restaurant in NYC located in Flatiron District. The restaurant focuses on seasonal New American cuisine and serves up a modern interpretation of classic dishes such as steak tartare, roasted chicken and foie gras terrine. Eleven Madison Park also offers an eight-course tasting menu featuring artfully plated dishes created by Chef Daniel Humm.

Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare is one of two restaurants to earn three Michelin stars for its unique take on Japanese cuisine. Located in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Fare offers guests an opportunity to experience Chef Cesar Ramirez’s inventive fare through a multi-course tasting menu that changes daily to reflect what’s available at local markets.

Ichimura, located inside the chic Uchu restaurant in Tribeca, is helmed by master sushi chef Eiji Ichimura who specializes in Edomae sushi made with traditional Japanese techniques and ingredients that are sourced from Japan’s Tsukiji Fish Market.

Jean Georges, located at 1 Central Park West near Columbus Circle, offers diners creative French fare crafted from locally sourced ingredients such as Hudson Valley duck breast and wild striped bass filet. The signature four-course tasting menu features dishes such as black truffle risotto and garlic braised ribeye steak.

Per Se, located inside Lincoln Center Plaza near Central Park West ,is helmed by renowned chef Thomas Keller who uses classic French cooking techniques to create innovative American dishes such as poached oysters with caviar creme fraiche or chicken liver mousse served with black truffle custard. Per Se also features a nine-course tasting menu available for lunch or dinner.

Sushi Ginza Onodera, located on East 46th Street near Grand Central Terminal, is helmed by master sushi chef Masaki Saito who specializes in Edomae sushi made with seasonal fish from Japan’s Tsukiji Fish Market. Ginza Onodera serves up courses featuring items like ankimo (monkfish liver) sushi or uni (sea urchin) served over vinegared rice.


In total there are seven three Michelin star restaurants in New York City offering diners a variety of luxurious dining experiences ranging from traditional Japanese cuisine to modern interpretations of classic French dishes.
