Is Indian Daily Food Healthy?

In today’s day and age, it is becoming harder and harder to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The constant barrage of unhealthy food options and the overconsumption of processed foods can make it difficult to keep up with a healthy diet.

India is no exception to this phenomenon, as the traditional Indian diet has seen many changes over the years. Many Indian households have started consuming more processed and packaged foods, which are generally not as nutritious as their home cooked counterparts. This shift in dietary habits can have serious implications on our health and wellbeing.

The traditional Indian diet consists of whole grains such as wheat, rice and millets; legumes like lentils; fresh fruits and vegetables; dairy products like milk, yogurt and cheese; nuts, seeds and oils; spices like turmeric, ginger, cumin etc.; and a variety of herbs. Such ingredients are usually cooked at home with minimal processing or additives, thus providing us with a balanced nutrient intake.

However, today’s Indian households are increasingly opting for processed foods that contain preservatives, artificial flavors, colorings or sweeteners. Such ingredients not only lack the nutritional value of natural foods but also can be harmful if consumed in excess. Furthermore, there is an alarming rise in consumption of fast food items like burgers and pizzas which are often high in salt, sugar or fat.

In conclusion, it is essential to ensure that we make healthy dietary choices on a daily basis in order to maintain good health. Eating right doesn’t necessarily mean eating boring food – there are plenty of ways to enjoy delicious meals while keeping our nutritional needs in check. It is important to remember that Indian daily food can still be healthy if we choose wisely.
