Does Turkey Have Michelin Star Restaurants?

Turkey is a country known for its delicious cuisine, but does it have any Michelin Star Restaurants? The answer is yes!

Turkey has several restaurants that have earned Michelin Stars. The Michelin Guide is a guidebook that includes reviews of restaurants, hotels, and more from around the world. It awards the prestigious Michelin Stars to restaurants with exceptional food and service.

Turkey’s first-ever Michelin Star restaurant was Alancha in Istanbul. It was awarded one star in 2017, and has since been featured in multiple editions of the Michelin Guide.

Another Istanbul restaurant, Mikla, also earned one star and has been featured in the guide since 2018. In the same year, the city of Ankara saw its first Michelin Star restaurant when Nusr-Et Steakhouse was awarded one star.

In 2019, Istanbul welcomed its third Michelin Star restaurant when Yosun Restaurant opened up at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at Sultanahmet. This fine-dining establishment serves traditional Turkish cuisine with modern touches. Additionally, two other restaurants in Istanbul received Bib Gourmands which are awarded to restaurants that serve excellent food at an affordable price.

The number of Michelin Star restaurants continues to grow each year as more chefs strive for excellence in their cuisines and service. In 2020, two more establishments were added to the list: Neolokal by chef Murat Bozkurt in Istanbul and Akcaabat Et Feraye by chef Tugrul Goktekin in Trabzon both earned one star each.

It’s clear that Turkey is growing as a culinary destination with several restaurants earning recognition from the prestigious Michelin Guide. As more chefs continue to work hard to create memorable dining experiences for their guests, we can expect even more Turkish restaurants to earn stars in 2021 and beyond!

Conclusion: Turkey definitely has several award winning establishments featured on the prestigious Michelin Guide that have earned either one or two stars for their outstanding quality food and service. As this trend continues to grow each year with new additions being made to the list of starred establishments, it’s safe to say that Turkey is quickly becoming a major culinary destination!
